OSB (Oriented Strand Board) Core, referred to as Permawood® Core at DVC, is similar to MDF, HDF, and PBC in its construction in that it is manufactured from wood shavings and chips that are blended with an adhesive and extruded onto a large thick “loaf” that is then pressed to the needed thickness. The shavings and chips on this core are generally larger than those found in particleboard core and certainly larger than the fibers used in MDF & HDF. Permawood® is a very stable hardwood plywood substrate when produced with a balancing face and back and has good screw holing capabilities.
